If you don’t see instructions for your provider, then you can follow this generic setup guide to connect your existing domain to Groupdesk.
Grow Your Business – You can ask your Implementation Specialist to help connect your existing domain and let you focus on other important parts of your business.
Unexpected behavior can occur if you use third-party proxies. Groupdesk is not responsible for any loss of information.
First, we need to add your custom domain to your Groupdesk Account. This step identifies you to Groupdesk as the owner of your custom domain. Advise your Groupdesk Implementation Specialist what SubDomain you would like to use.
A subdomain is a subset for your root domain that you use as a prefix. For example, in the URL travel.adventure.com, travel is the subdomain. You can use subdomains to organize your website and make it easier for visitors to find the information they are looking for.
Steps:
Log in to the account you have with your domain provider.
Find your DNS settings. Look for your domain management area, DNS configuration, or similar.
Find CNAME record in your DNS settings.
Change your subdomain CNAME Record to point to the Record Provided by Groupdesk. For example , if you want your subdomain travel.amazingadventures.com to point to Groupdesk then change your travel CNAME record to point to the Record provided by Groupdesk.
Save the CNAME Record (usually by clicking Save or Add Record or similar).
Advise your Groupdesk Implementation Specialist that you have added the Record(s).
Verify Domain with Groupdesk to confirm that your custom domain has been connected to your store.
If you have problems or need help pointing your custom domain to your Groupdesk Account, then you should contact your third-party provider’s support team. Groupdesk Support will be more limited in assisting you because every provider is different.
Groupdesk Support can’t log in to your third-party domain account for you, even if you give us explicit permission.
Your third-party domain provider is familiar with the terms related to domains. When you call your provider for support, you can tell them that:
you want your subdomains (your CNAME records) to point to the record provided to you by your Groupdesk Implementation Specialist.
you want your domain (your A record) to point to the IP address, that has been provided to you.
